What I do

What do you do?

This question has been posed so many times, I have lost count.  Sadly, I have also lost count of the different responses I have given. I am a teacher by trade.  I received a B.S. degree from Concord College (now Concord University) in education – P.E. and  Health Education.  I taught school as a behavior disorder teacher for three years before accepting a position as a curriculum specialist with a small non-profit company.  That position was supposed to last six months and then I would re-enter the classroom as a substitute and begin working my way up the seniority ladder, waiting on the right position to come my way.

multitask10 years later, I am still working for that same non-profit as an Instructional Designer.  I received my M.Ed. in Instructional Design in April 2011 and have been working on web-based interventions to help combat the obesity epidemic, specifically in WV, but also across the U.S.

I  wear many hats in my daily life.  I am a volunteer firefighter (Assistant Chief), a youth  leader at my church, a web designer, graphic artist, instructional designer, administrative assistant (to my supervisor from time to time) and just about any other role that is sent my way.  I really don’t have one set job title that covers everything.   I guess the best way to answer the question of What do I do would be to summarize my overall focus – web-based technology.
